Voice of the Laity

Commitment is not one-way traffic
Just for your thought:
The saddest reality in today’s church is that many leaders view their believers not as members of the Body of Christ, but as banks to fulfill their own needs. They fail to recognize that God has placed them as leaders in the church to help believers fulfill the role God has assigned to them within His Body. Just as much as believers are required to submit to and support their leaders, leaders, too, must be willing to listen to and yield themselves to the believers, so that God can use them for His purposes.
Commitment is not one-way traffic.
Paul and Barnabas were important to the Lord, but so were Stephen and Philip. Today's need is this: church and movement leaders must recognize, understand, and utilize the grace and talents given to believers.
In my view, the Brethren Church, which does not believe in speaking in tongues, stands as a good example in how they effectively utilize the talents of their believers.
