A person who is separated from the sins of the world must enter into a life that is united with the Word of God. One who has been delivered from sin must move directly into a life of obedience to the Word. Otherwise, he may once again become imprisoned in a sinful life.
Only through love for the Word, reading the Word, and meditating on the Word can one continue to live in freedom from the pressure of sin. The light of the Word that we receive through the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest weapons in our spiritual life. Through that light, we can identify sin and overcome and conquer it.
Daily Bible reading and meditation are the fundamental elements of Christian spiritual growth.
A person who is connected to the Word will be useful to others in some way in every area and at every moment of his life. The fluctuations, ups and downs, weariness, and disappointments in his spiritual life can never prevent him from being useful to others.
Because the root of his life is deeply planted in the Word of God.
This is what Psalm 1:1–3 teaches us.
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
A life separated from sin alone is not enough; a life connected to the Word is essential.
Only when a life separated from sin becomes a life rooted in the Word of God does it become a stable, fruitful, and useful life.
