The Book of Job — Bible Study 38.
In *our previous studies, we examined some of the remarkable features* *found in the 77 questions that God asked Job—questions* concerning the creation of the earth, the depths of the sea, and ice.
*In this study, let us consider the remarkable words God spoke concerning rain.*
“Who cut a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderbolt, to cause it to rain on a land where no one lives, on the desert, where there is no man, to satisfy the desolate wasteland, and make the ground sprout with grass? Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew?”

The Existence of Rain Is a Wonderful Mystery!
The existence of rain is a wonder. It reveals a remarkable order and system that could not have come into existence by mere chance.
Rain also reminds us that God truly exists and that it is a manifestation of God’s goodness to all people. Paul mentioned this in his letter:
“He did good, giving you rains from heaven...”
— Acts 14:17
How Is Rain Formed?
The watering of the earth—day after day and year after year, continually supplying it with water—is the work of a great God.
Millions of tons of water are lifted up from the seas, held in the atmosphere, carried over dry lands, and then poured down as rain in such a way that it does not harm the7397312322 soil or vegetation.
When the time comes for rain, electrical activity takes place in the atmosphere, and moisture is gathered together into tiny droplets. These then fall gently upon the thirsty ground without causing harm.
This is such a natural and frequent occurrence that we often fail to recognize its great significance.
Again and again, rain clearly teaches us about the good hand of our God, who graciously provides for our needs!
Rain is one of the wonderful works of God. Although it may appear to us as an ordinary natural process, we must not forget that God’s work is behind it.
It is God who causes the rain to fall;
It is God who withholds the rain;
It is God who causes the rain to fall abundantly.
These questions that God asked Job remind us that rain is under His control.
