Caste and Dowry.
Just for your thoughts.
Caste and Dowry.
There are two fundamental tests that reveal whether a person is truly a repentant Christian.
Though there may be many tests, these are among the most basic.
1. Do you consider caste when choosing a marriage partner?
If you choose a spouse based on your caste, community, or native place, you certainly cannot claim to be a truly repentant Christian. Only after passing this test can one move on to the next stage of Christian maturity. Otherwise, the Bible does not recognize such a person as a genuinely repentant Christian.
A person who continues to hold on to such divisions can never truly become part of the church of the Lord, who united all people through His own blood.
2. Will you accept dowry or money for marriage?
If you choose a woman based on the gold jewelry she possesses—or, in the case of a woman who does not wear jewelry, based on the money she can bring into the marriage—and if you regard these things as essential qualifications for marriage, then such a practice is wrong both according to Scripture and according to the law of the land.
By both standards, you become guilty of a serious offense.
Any marriage that is not centered on the will of God cannot be considered a biblically approved marriage.
There can hardly be a more corrupt believer than one who demands dowry.
Christianity continues to suffer because of caste discrimination and the dowry system.
Those who practice these two grievous sins—regardless of whether they are ministers, generous donors to Christian ministries, supporters of North Indian missions, or even leaders of missionary organizations—will never enter the Kingdom of God.
