Voice of the Laity

Intimacy with God is the key to true faith
Just for your thought:

Intimacy with God is the key to true faith

Hebrews 11:23-29 not only describes Moses' faith, but also reveals the origin of his trust. According to Hebrews 11:27, he could face everything like someone who sees the unseen. Among his many qualities, Moses' intimate and personal relationship with God stood out.

We read about his entry into the Tabernacle in Exodus 33:9-11, where it says, "And the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend."

God's judgement on those who rebelled against Moses is recorded in Numbers 12:7-8: "With him, I speak mouth to mouth."

In short, Moses' intimate knowledge of God was the key to his faith.

Legend has it that before a major battle, Napoleon used to stand alone in his tent and call out to his commanders one by one. When they approached him, he would shake their hands and look them in the eye without saying a word. They would leave ready to die for the general they loved.
This story is reminiscent of the relationship between God and Moses. Moses' knowledge of God allowed him to have unwavering faith. When we approach any challenge from the direct presence of God, no endeavour can ever be too great for us. Often our fear and failure stem from our attempts to accomplish things ourselves.
