For Your Thoughts

Don't urge God
Don't urge God
In the last days of the prophet Samuel, when the people of Israel asked for a king to rule them, God's answer was to them.
"They have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, and I should not reign over them."

1 Samuel 8:7

This was not the first time that the Jewish people rejected God.

They turned to Aaron when it was too late for Moses to come down from Mount Sinai.

They said, "
“Come, make us gods who will go before us."
exodus 32:1

God already knew this.

"He prophesied. "I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you."
Genesis 17:6

When Jacob mentions Judah among his 12 children

He prophesied, "The scepter shall not depart from Judah."

Judah was the kingly tribe.

He predestined David, born of the tribe of Judah, to be king of the Jews.

But God chose Saul because the Jewish people wanted a king, and they wanted it immediately. So Saul's selection was not God's perfect will.

It was not wrong for the Jewish people to ask for a king. What was wrong was asking for it to be given immediately.

This is what Hosea, many centuries later, wrote as follows:

.'Where is your king, that he may save you?
Where are your rulers in all your towns?
of whom you said,
‘Give me a king and princes’?
So in my anger I gave you a king,
and in my wrath I took him away."
Hos 13:10,11
There is nothing wrong with praying for our needs.

But for those wishes to be fulfilled immediately, we should not fight with the Lord to compel the Lord. Things like getting angry with the Lord will lead to unnecessary confusion and losses in our lives.

"The greatest judgment the God can give us is to let us have our own way." W.W.Wirrdbe

This is the biggest loss we face in our lives.

The greatest blessings we receive when we surrender our wishes and desires to God are far greater than the blessings we strive to receive by struggling with God.

Only God understands our needs better than we do. It is better for us to wait for Him to give in His own appointed time.
