The Book of 1 Samuel
Bible Study 3
Hannah's prayer with much spiritual importance.
Although many prayers are found in the scriptures, it cannot be denied that this prayer has had the greatest impact on believers.
We can see in the Christian world that countless parents have committed their children to the Lord based on this prayer and those children have done extraordinary things in the kingdom of God.
God hears the prayers of devoted parents and exalt their children by calling them to ministry at the right time.
No other prayer in the scriptures has such an impact
This praising was also a basis for Mary's prayer.
Luke 1:46-55.
Bible scholar Wiersbe compares this prayer to the song that David sang when the Lord delivered David from the hands of all his enemies and the hands of Saul.
2 Sam.22cpt
The greatness of this song lies in the time when she sang it even though she was singing the praises of God's grace to her who did not deserve it.
She sang this song at the time when he (baby Samuel) forgot to drink milk and she took him with her and went to Jehovah's temple in Shiloh and dedicated him to Jehovah God.
1 Samuel 1:24.
We should approach this song from a mother's mindset.
There was a huge pressure that she was going to dedicate the child , she looked after for three years to God, but the joy that the child was being dedicated to God overcame the sadness and grief .
At that moment she emotionally sang praises to God who removed her reproach. This is the highlight of this song.
No man or woman in the scriptures is said to have sung such a wonderful song in such circumstances.
That is why the prayers offered by parents today based on this song are so powerful.
Her husband Elkanah's role in this dedication is also important.
Knowing Hannah' s vow he did not object to it. He respected his wife's commitment even though he had the right to object. (Number 30 chapter).
So her husband's role was commendable in Hannah's fulfilling her vow
"There is no-one holy like the Lord;
there is no-one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God."
The above lines in this song describe God's holiness and His incomparable nature. (His Holiness and uniqueness).
It also became a prophetic song.
" Those who were full hire themselves out for food,
but those who were hungry are hungry no more.
She who was barren has borne seven children,
but she who has had many sons pines away."
1 Samuel 2:5
These lines are a prophetic promise that God will bless Hannah with more children
In this, the word "seven" refers to perfection.
No doubt Hannah's prayer has gained a permanent place among the believers.
