Just for your thoughts:

Bible Study – 2 Kings, Lesson 9
Title: Inner Eyes and Outer Eyes

God must enlighten our inner eyes.
In our spiritual life, we often say that we need the vision of faith to endure the trials we face.
To say it from another angle, our inner eyes must be enlightened.

Our spiritual eyes or inner eyes should be brightened or enlightened.

To capture Elisha, the king of Aram sent horses, chariots, and a strong army. They came by night and surrounded the city.

The next morning, the servant of the man of God saw them and panicked, saying,
“Oh no, my master! What shall we do?” (2 Kings 6:15)

But Elisha replied,
“Do not be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:16)

Then Elisha prayed and asked God to help his servant see—not just with physical eyes, but what he saw with his inner eyes.

The Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

In the same way, when we face trials, we need this inner vision to overcome them.
The sight of our physical eyes often brings discouragement, unbelief, deception, fear, and confusion.

At such times, we must remember the words Paul wrote to the believers in Ephesus:

"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints."
.

In order for believers to gain such vision, preachers must teach and train them.
They should not simply say, “I am praying for you,” and keep believers dependent on themselves.

Believers must learn to depend on God personally.
This was one of Paul’s key prayer points.

Dear pastors, please make your believers fully dependent on God’s power and not at the mercy of your prayers.

One of the most important responsibilities of a shepherd (pastor) is to help believers understand the Word of God well.

"Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in Your law." – Psalm 119:18

As believers, we too must pray daily that God would enlighten the vision of our inner eyes.
Then we will be able to guard ourselves against all the fears that Satan brings.

Today, the inner vision of many churches has become dim.
That is why they look to politics and wait for the favor of politicians.

"O God, make the eyes of my heart shine every day" – let this be our daily prayer!
