Bible Lesson 18 from 2 Kings.
*Just for your thoughts.*
Bible Lesson 18 from 2 Kings.
Read Chapter 13, verses 20 and 21.
In this event, even after Elisha died, God displayed His power through him.
This happened when the Israelites were in the process of burying a man. Suddenly, they saw a raiding party. At once, they opened Elisha’s tomb and threw the dead man’s body into it. As soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came back to life and stood up on his feet.
Elijah was taken up without dying.
But God used Elisha’s dead body. After Elisha anointed Jehu as king, nothing more is recorded about him in the Bible until this incident.
The Scripture does not mention anything about Elisha’s last 45 years of ministry. In Chapter 13, we see some of the events in his final period that God used for His purposes.
Truths we learn from this event:
1.The ministry of a man who lives in the center of God’s will continues until the very end of his life.
2.
When God’s servant lives a holy life and fulfills His will, old age is not a hindrance for God to use him.
3.God used Elijah in one way and Elisha in another. For every servant and every ministry, the Lord has a broad and long-term plan. Based on that plan, He uses each believer.
4.It is neither right nor proper to compare one believer with another, or one servant with another (John 21:19–23).
5.Our God needs both the young and the old. We must remember that it was because the people ignored the counsel of the elders that the united kingdom of Judah was divided into North and South.
