Believing in the living God leads to redemption, and believing in His covenant provides confidence; but, believing in the covenant's symbol is only religious superstition and
cannot provide certainty or salvation.
Although the Jews believed that circumcision would save them, they were unaware of the actual spiritual significance of this significant procedure (Rom. 2:25–29; Deut. 10:12–16; 30:6). Nowadays, a lot of individuals rely on their baptism or their participation in the Lord's Table (the Eucharist, Communion) to ensure their salvation, yet this type of faith is unfruitful.
